1. Steel

• Characteristics: Steel is the most traditional and common umbrella rib material, usually galvanized steel or stainless steel, possessing high strength and rigidity.

• Advantages:

- High Strength: Steel umbrella ribs can withstand greater pressure, suitable for harsh weather.

- Low Cost: Low production cost, affordable price, widely used in mid-to-low-end umbrellas.

- Stability: High rigidity, good canopy tension, suitable for large-sized umbrellas.

2. Aluminum

• Characteristics: Aluminum is a lightweight metal commonly used for umbrella shafts and ribs. Its surface is typically anodized or powder-coated.

• Advantages:

- Lightweight: Low density (approximately 2.7 g/cm³), about 50% lighter than steel, suitable for folding and portable umbrellas.

- Corrosion Resistance: Aluminum naturally forms an oxide film, and with coatings, its rust resistance is superior to steel.

- Moderate Cost: Priced higher than steel but lower than fiberglass, offering excellent value for money.

3. Fiberglass

• Characteristics: Fiberglass is a composite material made of glass fiber and resin, possessing high toughness and elasticity.

• Advantages:

- High Elasticity: Fiberglass umbrella ribs can be bent without easily breaking, and can "flip over" in strong winds and return to their original shape, exhibiting excellent wind resistance.

- Lightweight and Durable: Lightweight (approximately 30% lighter than steel), corrosion-resistant, and rust-resistant, suitable for long-term use.

- Strong Wind Resistance: Its flexibility makes it a preferred material for golf umbrellas and outdoor umbrellas.

4. Carbon Fiber

• Characteristics: Carbon fiber is a high-strength, low-density composite material widely used in high-end products.

• Advantages:

- Ultra-lightweight and ultra-strong: With a density of only about 1.8 g/cm³, it has higher strength than steel and is about 20% lighter than aluminum, combining lightweight and high durability.

- Corrosion resistant: Rust-free, resistant to acids and alkalis, suitable for various harsh environments.

- Excellent wind resistance: High toughness and elasticity, stable performance under strong winds.
